Source Code CD-ROMs

[ English ]

GNU Source Code CDs include no compiled programs, so you will need a C compiler and some skills in order to run the software. We ship C compiler tools for some systems on the GNU Compiler Tools Binaries CD-ROM and the GNU Software for MS-Windows and MS-DOS. GNU packages that need another compiler or interpreter normally provide the C source for a bootstrapping program.

The 15th edition contents and manifest are posted here. Contents is an alphabetical list of package names and version numbers. Manifest (70K) is a long list of brief descriptions of each top-level text file and each program package. (This list is actually for edition 14, but it does have descriptions of most of the packages on 15. You could also try looking for package descriptions in the Manifest for the current Source Code CD-ROM package.)
