jEdit - Text editor

jEdit is a free software text editor written in Java. Its features include syntax highlighting, bracket matching, regular expression searching, multiple file search and replace, folding, keyboard macros, abbreviations, and split-window operations.

Plug-ins performing a variety of tasks have been written for jEdit; they can be downloaded and installed from within the editor using the 'plugin manager' feature.
