Foreign-Sort
============

The syntax  sort NAME LIST  for Perl's builtin  sort  function
allows you to specify a subroutine name to perform comparison
of any pair of elements in  LIST . Perl will set the package
variables  $a  and  $b  and it is expected that your comparison
function will use  $a  and  $b  to decide how they should
be ordered.

A limitation of this syntax is that  $a  and  $b  are *package*
variables in the package of the comparison function, and you
cannot easily use the syntax to refer to a comparison function
in a different package from the calling package.

Foreign::Sort  defines the subroutine attribute "Foreign" that
you can apply to your comparison functions that will allow them
to accept calls from a different package, overcoming this
limitation.


SYNOPSIS

    package Your::Package;
    use Foreign::Sort;
    sub your_compare : Foreign {  $a ... $b }

    package Their::Package;
    @x = ...;
    @y = sort Your::Package::your_compare @x;

INSTALLATION

To install this module, run the following commands:

	perl Makefile.PL
	make
	make test
	make install
