Well, yes :-) I used SVGA.tgz package. I simply
uncompressed it in the root directory, and it went all
in place. I had to link again /usr/X11R6/bin/X because
tar failed to do it, since the file already existed. I
advice to delete this file before SVGA install.
I have a peculiar issue, though: while it works neatly
on my thinkpad LCD, it won't work when I connect an
external display (XFree apparently fails to recognize
the display type -- it believes that it is a mono LCD,
instead of a full-colored CRT screen)

No I downloaded from my Microsoft Windows system.
Netscape must have missed some transfer errors, and I
had to download again with another soft (GO!zilla). Then
I could unpack it.
