                 MANAGEMENT  BULLETIN
     
The DDN MANAGEMENT BULLETIN is distributed online by the DDN Network 
Information Center under DISA contract as a means of communicating 
official policy, procedures and other information of concern to 
management personnel at DDN facilities.  Back issues may be read 
through the TACNEWS server ("@n" command at the TAC) or may be 
obtained by FTP (or Kermit) from the NIC.DDN.MIL host [192.112.36.5] 
using login="anonymous" and password="guest".  The pathname
for bulletins is ddn-news/ddn-mgt-bulletin-nn.txt (where "nn" is the 
bulletin number).


         INITIATION OF COMMUNICATIONS SERVER REGISTRATION

1.  The NIC will stop accepting current user registration templates 
31 May 1995.  The NIC will only accept new user registration
templates beginning 1 June 1995.  

2.  Host administrators may now only register e-mail users.  They
may not register communications server users.  Host Administrators 
must use the new user template to register e-mail users.  

3.  Communications Server users can only be registered by a
registered Local Access Authority.

4.  Description of the new Comm Server registration system and the
procedures for registering a Local Access Authority, Organizational 
Card Custodian, and the Comm Server User will be placed on-line 
NLT 19 May 1995 in the netinfo directory.  The file name is cs-reg.txt.  
The file may be obtained by either anonymous ftp to the NIC or by 
sending e-mail to SERVICE@NIC.DDN.MIL, with NETINFO CS-REG.TXT 
in the subject line.

5.  Local Access Authorities must use the new user template to register 
communications server users; all communications server users must be 
registered e-mail users.  Local Access Authorities may perform both 
registrations for new users if desired.  These Local Access Authorities 
should coordinate this activity with the appropriate host administrator(s) 
prior to registration.

6.  The new registration templates will be placed on-line NLT 
19 May 1995 in the templates directory.  File names are as follows:

	a.  User template - disn-user-template.txt

	b.  Organizational Card Custodian - disn-occ-template.txt

	c.  Authority Registration - disn-auth-template.txt

Templates may be obtained by either anonymous ftp to the NIC or by sending
e-mail to SERVICE@NIC.DDN.MIL, with TEMPLATES [FILE NAME] in the
subject line.
