The American Mathematical Society's first electronic-only journal, Electronic Research Announcements of the AMS, is now accepting papers.
ERA-AMS is published on e-MATH and disseminated via the World Wide Web. ERA-AMS publishes research announcements (up to about 10 journal pages) of significant advances in all branches of mathematics. A research announcement should be designed to communicate its contents to a broad mathematical audience and should meet high standards for clarity as well as mathematical content. Papers with complete proofs (and, naturally, within the same limitations on the length) may be published in exceptional cases if the results are substantial enough to meet the criteria. Authors may submit manuscripts to any editor. All papers are reviewed, and the entire Editorial Board must approve the acceptance of any paper.
Submissions to ERA-AMS may consist of a single TeX file or a combination of one or more TeX files, graphics files, auxiliary LaTeX files, etc. All submissions must utilize an ERA-AMS template to specify bibliographic and other information necessary for automatic processing.
Macro packages are available for authors submitting articles to Electronic Research Announcements. The AMS strongly prefers that authors use the AMS-LaTeX macro package. (See the section on TeX Files below.)
Research announcements may be submitted in the following ways:
era-submit@math.ams.org
. Electronic mail submissions consisting
of multiple files should follow the instructions at the bottom of the ERA-AMS
template.Examples are available for both e-mail submissions and FTP submissions.
If the macro packages are not used, AMS-LaTeX is still the highly preferred format of TeX. However, the following files are also acceptable:
Any other TeX macros must be included with the submission. Only standard TeX fonts can be used: Computer Modern, AMSFonts, and LaTeX symbol fonts. PostScript graphics in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format can be included and should be sent as separate files. The preferred macro package for including EPS graphics files is the LaTeX `graphicx' package (from a recent LaTeX distribution, 1995 or later). A LaTeX document can invoke this package by using:
\usepackage{graphicx}followed by:
\includegraphics{epsfilename}for each EPS graphic file. Plain TeX, AMS-TeX, or old LaTeX 2.09 documents may use the Psfig or EPSF macro packages. You do not need to include a copy of those packages with your submission.
