About Freetalk

Freetalk is a console based Jabber client. It features a readline interface with completion of buddy names, commands, and even ordinary English words. Freetalk is extensible, configurable, and scriptable through a Guile interface.

News

• Aug 25, 2006: We are pleased to announce a developers only release of Freetalk 1.90, a complete rewrite done as part of Google Summer of Code.
• Apr 19, 2006: Freetalk 0.69 is released. Changes include support for in-band registration, file transfer (beta), localization support, some new commands, and many cosmetic improvements. Get the tarball.
• Jan 1, 2006: Freetalk is now an official GNU project.
• Nov 27, 2005: Freetalk 0.5 is out. Changes include two new extensions (proud-of-freetalk and url), numerous bug fixes and more. Get the tarball here.
• Nov 1, 2005: Freetalk 0.42.1, a minor bugfix release, is out. Tarball.
• Nov 1, 2005: Freetalk 0.42 has been released. Grab the tarball.
