If a man
page is being kept only because it once existed, and
is not being updated anymore, this man
page should display a
warning to that effect. Here is a possible text:
This documentation is no longer being maintained and may be inaccurate or incomplete. The Texinfo documentation is now the authoritative source.
Some packages install man pages by default. Other packages require an
explicit `make install-man' for getting them installed. Maybe
that a correct attitude might be to install man
page by default
(that is, through `make install'), only if they are guaranteed to
be up-to-date. If man
pages are not up-to-date, there might be
no point in installing them with any Makefile target (letter
from Karl, 1995-04-24).
