 CHAPTER 111--SUPPORT OF SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND ENGINEERING EDUCATION
 
Sec. 2199. Definitions

    In this chapter:
        (1) The term ``defense laboratory'' means a laboratory operated 
    by the Department of Defense or owned by the Department of Defense 
    and operated by a contractor or a facility of a Defense Agency at 
    which research and development activities are conducted.
        (2) The term ``institution of higher education'' has the meaning 
    given such term in section 101 of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
        (3) The term ``regional center for the transfer of manufacturing 
    technology'' means a regional center for the transfer of 
    manufacturing technology referred to in section 25(a) of the 
    National Institute of Standards and Technology Act (15 U.S.C. 278k).
