Sec. 2578. Vessels: transfer between departments

    A vessel under the jurisdiction of a military department may be 
transferred or otherwise made available without reimbursement to another 
military department or to the Department of Transportation, and a vessel 
under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation may be 
transferred or otherwise made available without reimbursement to a 
military department. Any such transfer may be made only upon the request 
of the Secretary of the military department concerned or the Secretary 
of Transportation, as the case may be, and with the approval of the 
Secretary of the department having jurisdiction of the vessel.
