Sec. 3836a. Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program


(a) In general

    The Secretary of Agriculture, in consultation with the State 
technical committees established under section 1261 of the Food Security 
Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3861), shall establish a program under the 
Natural Resources Conservation Service to be known as the ``Wildlife 
Habitat Incentive Program''.

(b) Cost-share payments

    Under the program, the Secretary shall make cost-share payments to 
landowners to develop upland wildlife, wetland wildlife, threatened and 
endangered species, fish, and other types of wildlife habitat approved 
by the Secretary.

(c) Funding

    To carry out this section, a total of $50,000,000 shall be made 
available for fiscal years 1996 through 2002 from funds made available 
to carry out subchapter B of chapter 1 of subtitle D of title XII of the 
Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3831 et seq.).
