Sec. 470b-1. Grants to National Trust for Historic Preservation


(a) Authority of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; renovation 
        or restoration costs; terms and conditions; amounts

    The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to make 
grants to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, on such terms 
and conditions and in such amounts (not exceeding $90,000 with respect 
to any one structure) as he deems appropriate, to cover the costs 
incurred by such Trust in renovating or restoring structures which it 
considers to be of historic or architectural value and which it has 
accepted and will maintain (after such renovation or restoration) for 
historic purposes.

(b) Authorization of appropriations

    There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be 
necessary for the grants to be made under subsection (a) of this 
section.

                          Codification

    Section was enacted as part of the Demonstration Cities and 
Metropolitan Development Act of 1966, and not as part of the National 
Historic Preservation Act, Pub. L. 89-665, which is classified generally
