                 CHAPTER 16C--SOUTH PACIFIC TUNA FISHING
 
Sec. 973a. Application to other laws

    The seizure by a Pacific Island Party of a vessel of the United 
States shall not be determined to be a seizure described in section 
1825(a)(4)(C) of this title or section 1972 of title 22 if the seizure 
is found by the Secretary of State to be in accordance with the 
provisions of the Treaty.

                               Amendments

    1996--Pub. L. 104-208 made technical amendment to reference in 
original act which appears in text as reference to section 1825(a)(4)(C) 
of this title.


                    Effective Date of 1996 Amendment

    Section 101(a) [title II, Sec. 211(b)] of div. A of Pub. L. 104-208 
provided that the amendment made by that section is effective 15 days 
after Oct. 11, 1996.
