                    SUBCHAPTER I--GENERAL PROVISIONS
 
Sec. 853j. Examinations for promotion

    Nothing in this Act shall be construed to modify the provisions of 
existing law relating to examination of officers for promotion, and no 
officer shall be promoted until he shall have passed the prescribed 
examinations.
