Sec. 490f. Lease space rent rates and payments; appropriations

    (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, agencies are on and 
after October 6, 1992, authorized to make rent payments to the General 
Services Administration for lease space relating to expansion needs of 
the agency and the General Services Administration is authorized to use 
such funds, in addition to the amount received as New Obligational 
Authority in the Rental of Space activity of the Federal Buildings Fund. 
Such payments are to be at the commercial equivalent rates specified by 
section 490(j) \1\ of this title and are to be deposited into the Fund 
established pursuant to section 490(f) of this title.

    (b) There are hereby appropriated, out of the Federal Buildings 
Fund, such sums as may be necessary to carry out the purpose of 
subsection (a) of this section.

                       References in Text

    Section 490(j) of this title, referred to in subsec. (a), was in the 
original ``section 201(j) of the Federal Property and Administrative 
Services Act of 1949, as amended (40 U.S.C. 490(j))'' and was translated 
as reading ``section 210(j)'' of that Act to reflect the probable intent 
of Congress. Section 201 of that Act, which is classified to section 481 
of this title, does not contain a subsec. (j).

                          Codification

    Section was enacted as part of the appropriation act cited as the 
credit to this section, and not as part of the Federal Property and 
Administrative Services Act of 1949, part of which comprises this 
chapter.
