                    SUBCHAPTER I--GENERAL PROVISIONS
 
Sec. 2464. Recovery of fair value of placing Department of 
        Defense payloads in orbit with Space Shuttle
        
    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, or any interagency 
agreement, the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space 
Administration shall charge such prices as necessary to recover the fair 
value of placing Department of Defense payloads into orbit by means of 
the Space Shuttle.

                          Codification

    Section was enacted as part of the National Aeronautics and Space 
Administration Authorization Act, 1983, and not as part of the National 
Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 which is classified principally to 
this chapter.


                             Effective Date

    Section 106(b) of Pub. L. 97-324 provided that: ``This section 
[enacting this section] shall apply to any Department of Defense 
payloads placed into orbit by means of the Space Shuttle on or after 
October 1, 1983.''
