                    SUBCHAPTER I--GENERAL PROVISIONS
 
Sec. 2465f. Other activities of National Aeronautics and Space 
        Administration
        
    Commercial payloads may not be accepted for launch as primary 
payloads on the space shuttle unless the Administrator of the National 
Aeronautics and Space Administration determines that--
        (1) the payload requires the unique capabilities of the space 
    shuttle; or
        (2) launching of the payload on the space shuttle is important 
    for either national security or foreign policy purposes.

                          Codification

    Section was enacted as part of the National Aeronautics and Space 
Administration Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 1991, and also as part of 
the Launch Services Purchase Act of 1990, and not as part of the 
National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 which is classified 
principally to this chapter.


                               Amendments

    1998--Pub. L. 105-303 struck out subsec. (a) designation and heading 
and struck out heading and text of subsec. (b) which related to report 
of the Administrator.
