To me, it doesn't seem as if there's much grounds to say one way or another --

emulation (100% mu compatible) can also produce the symptoms you've described.

Must run 'pnpdump' first. Try this:

        # pnpdump > foo.tmp

View foo.tmp with your favorite viewer, such as:

        # less foo.tmp

Look for something describing a sound card. For example, here's part of the
'pnpdump' output for a sound card of mine:

        # Card 1: (serial identifier 15 10 0d 5f c7 24 00 8c 0e)
        # Vendor Id CTL0024, Serial Number 269311943, checksum 0x15.
        # Version 1.0, Vendor version 1.0
        # ANSI string -->Creative SB16 PnP<--

With luck you may see something like that, and the card would probably work
with a little tweaking.
