Software Simulated Analouge Synthesizer
Version 0.2.19

Preface
-------

Why just another software-synth ? Well there are two main answers on
this question. The first is that I had (and will have ...) much fun
writing it, the second is that I allmost do all my music with samples
(using Michael Krause's Soundtracker http://www.soundtracker.org) and
Linux just lacked a soft-synth capable of doing the things I needed or
just wanted to have.

Well, the synth is far away from beeing stable or as fast as I whish
it to be. Despite that it's quite usable... Just another few words on
this synth: It was *not* ever expected to run realtime. If you need a
realtime synth than just choose ARTS or XSYNTH but not this one...
Bacterium is to sounds and noise what POVray is to light (Aerm at
least it tries to be), so if you have made any good sounds with it
feel free to mail me the according .synth file (Please do not mail
mp3s or .wavs). If you have any ideas of improving the synth, then
please drop me a few lines. I'll see what I can do for you ...

NOTE ON THE CODE:
-----------------

I'm not a very experienced C-programmer. I like C but C does not like
me. So please be aware that if you take a peek on the code you should
never have something eaten before...

The Manual
----------

Sorry but up to now there is no manual ...

Install...
----------

Switched to automake/autoconf... (not perfect yet, but...) a simple
./configure
./make
should(!) do everything now...
