WHAT IS IT? Shepherd is a utility which monitors stand-alone information servers like Gopher, WAIS, WWW, Jughead, and Submit to make sure they are responding. If they don't respond then they are restarted automatically. It is intended for Unix Systems since it uses /etc/rc.local to get a list of servers to check and should be run by the crontab every 5 or 10 minutes. Works great!
