Hello -
Since I'm from the software side, I don't know how helpful this is.
Have you checked out www.vanu.com ?  They claim to have an architecture
that places all of the signal processing and RF filtering on the
software.  As they say, they've "move[d] the analog/digital boundary as
close as possible to the antenna and the hardware/software boundary to
the same place as the analog/digital boundary."  Would this approach be
beneficial for realizing wireless protocols, such as BlueTooth or HomeRF
?
