On the first day, Friday, November 17th, you hear from major vendors of tools for the markup languages SGML and HTML. The next day, Saturday, November 18th, you hear from other writers, managers, and engineers on their experiences creating web sites, hypertext documents, and SGML suites. Sponsored by the New Mexico Kachina chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, this two-day workshop will give you an indepth understanding of these hot new tools. You'll be able to compare products, ask tough questions of the vendors, hear how other organizations have recycled their information, and schmooze with folks who face the same problems you do. On Friday, November 17th, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, we will host talks by the most important vendors in this arena. We have preliminary commitments from the following vendors, who will talk about their SGML and HTML offerings. - Arbortext (ADEPT Editor, ADEPT Publisher) - Auto-Graphics (Impact Search, SGML Smart Editor) - Corel (Ventura) - Electronic Book Technologies (DynaTag, DynaText) - Frame (FrameMaker for SGML) - Infrastructures for Information (S4) - MicroStar (NEAR7FAR) - Silicon Graphics (computers and software tools) - SoftQuad (HotMetalPro, DTDocumeter, RulesBuilder, Author/Editor) - Xsoft and InContext (InContext) On Saturday, November 18th, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, we will offer a series of talks offering our audience advice on issues such as: - Working with the Standard General Markup Language (SGML) - Comparing Publishing Tools: SGML vs HTML - How We Created the Viva New Mexico Web site, and How We Keep it up - Distributing Documents over the Net - Making Webification Easier - An Introduction to Publishing Graphics on the World Wide Web - 7 Suggestions for the Interface of your Web Site - Improving Manuals and Online Help for the Well - Max Docs: Manuals in Minimal Cost, Minimal Time About the organizers...
