WORD-PROCESSOR REQUIREMENTS:

rtf2rb can convert rtf data conforming to the RTF Specs before version 1.2.
There are some problems with Word 6 (RTF version 1.2), Wordperfect RTF and
AmiPro RTF, which are listed below.


HOW TO RUN THE CONVERTER:
-------------------------
Usage:
    rtf2rb <<rtf input file name>> <<name of rainbow output target file>>
Example:
    rtf2rb mydoc.rtf mydoc.sgm

You will get a usage error if you do not provide the input and output file 
names.

IMPORTANT: The program requires two files called test.fcm and test.pem.  If it
cannot find these files, it crashes!!!  (The DOS version looks for them in the
same directory where the executable lies.)  (The Sun version looks for them in
the "current directory" at launch time.)


KNOWN BUGS THAT PRODUCE INVALID DOCUMENTS:
------------------------------------------

Endtags for CLF elements are sometimes missing.

A bizarre abuse of RTF generated only by WinWord causes the convertor to
produce invalid attributes on CLF elements.

AmiPro-RTF tables may not be converted properly.

Some formatting information may be lost in converting Wordperfect RTF.



KNOWN BUGS THAT DO NOT CAUSE INVALIDITY:
----------------------------------------

Embedded objects in the RTF are ignored.

The convertor does not delete blank paragraphs.

Adjacent CLFs that are identical in nature are not merged, yet.
