Ray,

Markit is supported by SEMA in Belgium:

I am not aware that they have a US Distributor or support at this time.

Jacques also has written me:

I hope this helps.

I am trying to get a psgml environment going for the docbook. I have the
2.3 version, and I installed psgml. The sgml mode seems to come up, but
emacs seems to refuse to parse the example docs, because a large list
of external entities are missing. These aren't character entities, they
are the modules that are listed in the dbpool.mod, like author.module.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is part of the docbook missing in
my installation of it?

That's one possible dimension of an answer. I've got another.

This is a bit surprising, as my temperament inclines toward
fault-finding, but I see this as one question that has a good
(partial) answer, at least for the practice of individuals and
their organizations. The answer is SGML (see \<URL:http://
starbase.neosoft.com/~claird/comp.text.sgml/sgml.html#Meaning>,
which I haven't updated yet, but am likely to do within the
week). What folks should do is author in SGML, making full use
of the latter's ability to structure content and presentation
aspects, and then use any of the proven, available technologies
to render SGML (before or during HTTP service, or even on the
client-side). This does not *solve* the problem, but it
decouples HTML presentation issues from the concerns of an
author, liberates authors to make best use of their efforts,
and encourages the kind of free experimentation that will be ne-
cessary before we can agree on what's to become of HTML.

This reads like propaganda from an SGML vendor. I am laughably
far from having a financial stake in any of them; I just think
there's a right way to see this issue, and it happens to be
close to theirs.

I think that if you looked at the URL that was given (http://www.ktalk.com/),
you'd see why it was relevant. A Windows front end to TeX, and software
tht lets you use TeX mathematics together with Microsoft Word and/or
Word Perfect is something people were asking about.

(I'm not sure it's particularly relevant to SGML, but I see that at least
part of this thread is cross-posted to other groups than comp.text.sgml.)
