ArtSci2001:Catalyst for Collaboration Third international symposium organized by Art and Science Collaboration, Inc. (ASCI) 2-4 November 2001 How can the discoveries of scientific research
and the powerful metaphors of art combine to impact society at
large? Some artists and scientists are exploring the promise
of art-sci collaborative projects. ArtSci2001 will feature multimedia
presentations on extraordinary collaborative projects involving
artists and scientists, ranging from photographs rendered in
hybrid grass, and a musical score based on brain activity, to
sculpture grown from living tissue, and brainwaves transmitted
via the Internet. The presenters will discuss the opportunities
and pitfalls of collaborating across disciplines and invite questions
from the audience. Cynthia
Pannucci, Director. Computational and Cognitive Models of Creative Design The aim of this roundtable conference series is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of current research in the development of computational and cognitive models of creative design. This conference is the fifth in a series of roundtable conferences, during which there will be consideration of the progress made since the first conference in 1989. The format of the conference is informal, allowing time for discussion of research objectives and progress. John Gero and Mary Lou Maher, Co-Chairs. (Aims and Scope): Visually and Mathematically Visual Mathematics (VM), similar to the goals
of the International Society for the Interdisciplinary Study
of Symmetry (ISIS-Symmetry), is a forum for the dialogue between
artists and scientist. On the other hand, it has a more specific
focus than the printed journal Symmetry: Art and Science,
the quarterly of ISIS-Symmetry (1990-). |
